About Stablecoin Payroll Guide

Why we started

Stablecoin Payroll Guide began in 2022 when our founders—three people who had spent years in payroll operations and crypto compliance—kept running into the same problem. Companies wanted to pay contractors and employees in stablecoins, but the available information was either promotional or dangerously incomplete. One founder had spent six months untangling a client's failed stablecoin payroll pilot; another had watched a treasury team lose money on a conversion because they didn't know how the off-ramp worked.

We started writing down what we learned. Those notes became a shared document, then a newsletter, then this site. We are not a stablecoin company. We do not sell tokens, wallets, or payroll software. We are a small editorial team that documents how stablecoin payroll, treasury, and finance actually work in practice—including the parts that are messy, expensive, or still unresolved.

What we do

We publish guides, case studies, and checklists for finance and operations teams at companies that are considering or already using stablecoins. Our material covers payroll mechanics (on-ramps, off-ramps, tax withholding, contractor classification), treasury operations (custody, conversion, accounting), and the compliance questions that come up in between.

Every guide is built from primary sources: interviews with payroll managers who have run live payments, conversations with compliance officers at licensed custodians, and our own review of public regulations and court filings. When we cite a number—a fee, a settlement time, a threshold—we link to the document or the person who provided it. When we don't know something, we say so.

We are funded by subscriptions to our research library and by speaking fees. We do not accept payment for coverage, and we do not run affiliate links to wallet providers or exchanges. If a vendor is mentioned in a guide, it is because a practitioner used it and agreed to be named, not because they paid us.

Our values

Accuracy over speed. Stablecoin rules change monthly. We would rather publish a guide a week late than publish a wrong threshold. Every article is reviewed by at least two people: one with payroll operations experience and one with compliance experience.

Show the trade-offs. Stablecoin payroll is not free or instant for everyone. We write about the failures—the misconfigured wallets, the frozen accounts, the tax forms that don't map cleanly—because those are the parts that cost teams money.

No hype. We don't use words like "revolutionary" or "seamless." If a process takes three days and costs 1.5%, we write that. If a regulation is ambiguous, we say it's ambiguous and explain what practitioners are doing in the meantime.

Reader privacy. We don't sell email lists or track readers across sites. Our business model is subscriptions, not advertising.

Who we are

Our editorial team is small and deliberately so. The core group has worked in payroll at companies ranging from 20 to 2,000 employees, and in compliance at a licensed money transmitter. We also work with a network of contributing practitioners—payroll managers, CFOs, and compliance officers—who write about their own implementations under their real names.

We are based in the United States, and our coverage focuses on US-based companies and US-regulated stablecoins (primarily USDC and USDP). We cover international payments when they involve US entities or US-based contractors, because that is where our readers operate.

How we make money

Subscriptions to our research library and fees for private workshops. We do not sell software, tokens, or consulting. We do not take referral fees from any platform we write about. When we run a workshop for a company, that company's name is not disclosed and the workshop content is not used in our public guides without permission.

Corrections

If we get something wrong, we want to know. Email [email protected] with the article URL and the specific error. We review every correction within two business days and publish a correction note at the bottom of the article when warranted. We do not delete articles; we update them and note the change.
